This is the first in a four-book mini-series by the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board (KYEB), capturing key interventi ons by the National Government in Manufacturing, which is the first Pillar of the Big 4 Agenda and the Third
Medium-Term Plan (MTP III).
The other three Pillars of the Big 4 Agenda are Aff ordable Housing, Universal
Health Coverage (UHC) and Food Security. This Under the Manufacturing Pillar, the Government has set a target of enhancing Manufacturing from 9.2% to 20% of GDP by the end of the end of the 2021/22 Financial Year. Priority areas for Manufacturing under the Big 4 Agenda and MTP III are:

- Leather
- Agro-processing
- Construction Materials
- Oil, Mining & Gas
- Iron & Steel
- ICT
- Fish Processing
To get there, the key enablers are:
- Enhancing Kenya’s standing in the Ease of Doing Business
- Establishing Industrial Parks/Zones
- Supporting SME’s
- Increasing Market Access for Kenyan goods
- Enforcing standards in Manufacturing
