Bernice Gachegu

Bernice Gachegu is the Registrar General and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. As Registrar General, she works under the office of the Attorney General overseeing the registration of various types of businesses, societies, treaties and coats of arms. She also serves as a Representative Director at IDB Capital Limited (formerly Industrial Development Bank).

The mother of three joined the state law office in 1984, immediately after graduating from university, and climbed through the ranks to become the legal assistant to the Registrar General prior to her current role. Gachegu attended Alliance Girls’ High School and then went to law school in India before studying for a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.

She also sits on the council of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya and is a member of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
